Masood Sharif Khan Khattak

Masood Sharif Khan Khattak is a former Director General of the Intelligence Bureau of Pakistan. In 1988-90 and 1993-96 he served as the Intelligence Chief to Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto during her two tenures as Prime Minister of Pakistan. Later, after ruthles political victimisation, he joined the PPP i.e. Pakistan Peoples Party. He then served as a Member of the Central Executive Committe (1999-2007) of the Pakistan Peoples Party and also as the Vice President of the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP – from 2002 to 2007) under the leadership of the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto who was, tragically, assassinated in Rawalpindi on 27 Dec 2007. Masood Sharif Khan Khattak, despite being well placed in the PPP heirarchy as well as being someone who was one of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s closest confidante, resigned from all his Party positions as well as his basic membership when the Party went into political negotiations with the then dictator Gen Pervaiz Musharraf. During his service he had been awarded the country’s second highest gallantry award namely the HILAL E SHUJAAT. To date Masood Sharif Khan Khattak suffers political victimisation of sorts.
